WHAT WE BELIEVE
GATHER. GROW. GO.
OUR STARTING POINT
At Solid Rock Community Church, we believe in truth. We define truth as that which pertains to reality. We define reality as that which pertains to the mind of God. We do not start with our mind to define reality because we cannot know if our mind is perceiving reality accurately and our brain cannot know all the infinite number of supporting truths that are necessary to know even one thing for certain. On our own, we cannot know anything for certain unless we know everything and, because we don't know everything, it seems we can't know anything for certain. If we can't know anything for certain, then it stands to reason that we know nothing. Yet, we do know things! We live our lives as if we are certain of many things. The only way we can know anything for certain would be if someone who knows everything reveals certain things to us. We believe God, who knows everything, has revealed some things to us that we can be certain of. These revelations were written down by holy men of God as the Spirit of God inspired them. The collection of books inspired this way is known as the Holy Bible. This is our precondition for intelligibility which is a fancy way of saying this is our starting point. This is our presupposition. This is our worldview.

We believe that the Bible is God's words and is accurate, authoritative, and applicable to our everyday lives. (John 17:17, 2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:105)

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists as one inseparable, indivisible entity known as Yahweh who is Father as the Creator. He is the one dwelling in the body named Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He is the one who interacts with us as the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 43:11, Isaiah 45:5, John 14:10-11, John 17:23, John 4:24)

We believe sin has separated each one of us from God and his purpose for our lives and the payment of sin is eternal death and separation from God. (Isaiah 59:2, Revelation 22:15, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Galatians 5:19-21)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only one who was able to live a sinless life, died innocently as payment for our sins and rose again in victory of sin, death, hell and the grave allowing us to be granted the opportunity to be victorious over the same. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:15)

We believe that, as our spiritual ancestor, Abraham, looked for a better country not of this world but whose builder was God, we too look for a better country. We desire to immigrate into the kingdom of God and God has established an immigration process known as the plan of salvation. (Hebrews 11:13-16, John 3:3-8) This process is detailed below under the Born Again Experience section.

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship, prayer and the hearing of the Word of God. (Hebrews 10:25, Acts 2:46)

We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives which to worship God, fulfill our role in the Church and serve the community in which we live. (Ephesians 4:8,11-13, 1 Corinthians 12:27-31)

We believe that our eternal destination of either heaven or hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

Repentance means to turn around literally but spiritually it means to have a change of heart and a change in thinking. This is to exercise your God-given free will to change your mind and desires from breaking God's laws to obeying them. (see Luke 5:31-32, Luke 24:46-48, Romans 2:4)
STATEMENT OF FAITH
born again experience
Repent
Born of Water
Jesus taught Nicodemus in John 3 about the born again experience. He broke it down into two parts: "born of water and of Spirit." Being born of water is to be baptized (submerged or fully wet). It is very clear in the Holy Bible that every person who was baptized was baptized using the phrase "in Jesus name" or "in the name of the Lord." Early church history undoubtedly shows that baptism was done in Jesus name exclusively in the first and second centuries. If you have not been baptized or if it was not in Jesus name, we strongly encourage it because it is baptism that done for the remission of your sins. (see Acts 2:38, Acts 4:12, Acts 8:5, 12, and 16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:2-5)
Born of Spirit
The second portion of the born again experience as taught by Jesus and His apostles were to be born of the Spirit. Jesus explains that every one who is born of the Spirit is born the same way (John 3:8). He evidences the infilling of the Holy Ghost with a sound. Peter preaches in Acts 2 and says that the infilling of the Holy Ghost is both seen and heard (Acts 2:33). In Acts 10, we find Peter and those with him amazed that the Holy Ghost was poured out on non-Jews. They knew it had happened "because they heard them speak" in a God-given language. The bible clearly teaches that the infilling of the Holy Spirit is first evidenced by speaking in a God-given language and then continually evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and that Spirit has abilities through us known as the gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8-10).

OUR PROCESS
Gather
Hebrews 10:25 encourages us to "not give up meeting together". Every Sunday at 11:00am and 3:00pm, we are blessed with the chance to freely gather together and worship the Lord without the fear of persecution. Millions of believers risk their lives gathering together. We cherish our freedom to celebrate the love of Jesus together and we believe belonging to a congregation is absolutely integral to discipleship and success in our relationships with God. Plan your visit today!
Grow
Growth is a purposeful activity. At Solid Rock, we offer many small groups, bible classes for children, youth, and adults for the sole purpose of growth. These small groups are available on different days and times to accommodate a wide range of schedules during the week. Find a small group that works for you on the Church Center app on your smartphone. Sunday School and Adult Bible Class occurs every Sunday at 10:00am.
Go
Disciples make other disciples. Jesus challenges us in The Great Commission to "go" and "make disciples". We are morally responsible to share what was freely given to us. We believe that the work of Jesus Christ continues through the sharing of the Good News with those in our social circles and through the various giftings of the Holy Ghost. We believe each believer is purposely gifted by God to be a caring, world-changing Christian.
